New Music Competition Information
Submissions for our New Music Competition are due November 10th (payment included)
About the group - Symphonia Chorale is a 35 member chorus based out of Romeo, Michigan. The Symphonia Chorale was organized in 1993 by singers in Macomb, Oakland, Lapeer, and St. Clair counties who hoped to offer the gift of music to their respective counties. Their concerts present many genres of music, from classical to classics, from spirituals to Broadway musicals, composers of contemporary music and local and regional composers. The Chorale venues include offering concerts at local churches, banquet centers, combining with other choral groups and have even sung at the world renowned Carnegie Hall.
The Competition - Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of judges. The pieces will be reviewed in overall musicality and in following with the guidelines below. The top two submissions will be performed and recorded at the May 1st Concert (location to be determined). The composer with the overall rated best composition will receive a $500 grand prize. Second place will receive $150. Deadline for submissions is November 10th.

Composition Guidelines - Pieces must conform to the following guidelines:
- $30 entry fee (per submission)
- Check or money order mailed to Symphonia Chorale New Music Competition, PO Box 540, Romeo, MI 48065
- Entries will not be considered without payment
- 3-5 minutes in length
- Written for SATB chorus and piano
- No more than 5 voices
- No more than one additional instrument besides piano
- A cappella acceptable (but provide piano reduction)
- Text must be public domain or have written approval
- Text preferably English, but other languages will be considered
- A cover letter explaining your submission.
- Submissions must be unpublished or have been published in the last calendar year (November 2016-November 2017)

- A MIDI form or other form of recordings is accepted but not required.
